Saint Isaac's Cathedral is one of the main architectural attraction of Saint Petersburg, and it is well known as a symbol of Russian northern capital. Isaakievskiy Sobor is one of the largest orthodox cathedrals in Europe. It was the major city cathedral until revolution of 1917, but in 1937 it was open as a museum of History and Art.

The cathedral's main dome rises 101.5 metres. You can climb the colonnade of the Snt. Isaac’s Cathedral and enjoy the staggering panoramic view of the city of Saint Petersburg from the 43-meter height. But, please note, there are no lifts in the building.

Saint Isaac's Cathedral appeared thanks to Peter the Great. It is dedicated to Saint Isaac of Dalmatia, a patron saint of Peter the Great, who had been born on the feast day of that saint. The cathedral was changed several times. And the one, which you can see today, is the forth Isaakievskiy Sobor in Saint Petersburg.
